What Was I Thinking
That’s the thought that came to mind as I was preparing the content to record this week’s episode of Podcast Answer Man. The first half of this episode sounded more like an episode of Pursuing A Balanced Life as I shared a lot of thoughts off the top my head without giving any prior thought as to what I was going to say.

A few hours after I had recorded, I was actually thinking about whether or not I should even release this as an episode of Podcast Answer Man. I happened to have a few people who were watching me as I live streamed the recording and so I reached out to one of these friends and asked them what they thought.

In response, my dear friend, Lourdes Wellhaven from the Networker For Business Women Podcast, wrote the following.

I think there were several great gems, that were, as usual very timely for me.

1. Why are you doing what you are doing?

2. Better time planning, margin planning

3. If you are telling yourself you NEED to do something but not “feeling it” perhaps you need to change your show.

I think it was “real” and sometimes, I really like “real”

I expected a pep talk to do more and produce more and instead I came away with “permission” to do what is best for me in accordance to my current goals. That made me think.

All of this resonated with me and I found it interesting and compelling.

Yes it felt much like a PABL show…but for those of us that struggle every day with the same struggles that you are going through, it was timely…very timely. As I write this I am contemplating whether or not I’ll do a little work tomorrow morning (no I’m not cooking, we’re going to my mom’s and most everyone that knows me well, bans me from the kitchen). If I work, I’ll feel guilty, if I don’t I’ll feel guilty. I have a to-do list that covers multiple pages and a ton of projects that I need/liked to get over the weekend. Sound familiar?

For those of us that have a similar makeup and mindset to you and that are facing a long holiday weekend with all of the potential to enjoy family or “get things done.”…and who over commit constantly…well, it’s real and timely and we get it.

I think you should air it.

We need to know we are not alone in the struggle to be who we are….which I suspect is most of the people who produce or enjoy podcasts.

Lourdes

And because of this amazing response, I am very confident that publishing this episode is the right thing to do.

Also in this episode
As you will be able to tell from this episode, I don’t have a ton of time to publish thorough show notes this week. Here is a list of other topics that are covered in this episode:

- iTunes Artwork. Should we start with larger than 1400×1400?
- I’m not getting email notifications from LiveFyre!
- What options ar there for covering a tv show in a fan podcast?
- Should I get my domain with “THE” in front of it?
- Platform Conference: http://PlatformConference.tv

Cliff,

Many thanks for answering my question regarding prefixing a domain name with 'the' or not.

I am in the process of moving the SQL DB and files across and hope to launch my website soon.

Thanks again.

All the best.

This was good detail.

From a listener, I see it as fine as long as the listener is told if something is going to skipped or not regularly scheduled.

It like exercise, you set the goal, but if you end up skipping a day or few, hop back into it.

Thank you Cliff.

K, bye

Cliff,

I am also glad that you produced this episode.  It seemed like you were speaking directly to me.

I was at a real crossroads about my podcast.  As I was doing research for my show I came across another Podcast "Half Size Me."  It is a very good podcast about weight loss.  In Fact, I found it when I was voting for the podcast awards. (Heather has been nominated for a podcast award)  Heather has 40 episodes and has already finished her weight loss journey.

Even though I never heard Heather's Podcast before I came up with my idea for Let's Reverse Obesity it is basically the same exact show. And now that I have listened to Heather I felt that she has dibs on this format.

I was trying to come up with a new format that was different from "Half Size Me."

I started to receive emails inquiring when was I producing episode 4.  From people I had never talked too, they stumbled upon my podcast searching for information on losing weight. They were inspired and motivated to start and continue their weight loss journey.

Then I heard you say to go to listen to other podcasts about podcasting.  So I searched the topics and found out that there are other podcasting podcasts.  I haven't listen to any, but the point is there is room for different points of view about specific topics.

So I have decided to continue with my Podcast.  Where Heather is done her journey, I feel that I'm at the beginning of mine.  I feel I still have a comedic spin on weight loss and the struggles that many people like me have on a daily basis.

So I have recommitted to produce a weekly Podcast.

I will Produce this Podcast every Monday. (Starting this Monday, my show prep is already done)

I will talk about my Progress (Good or Bad) and what steps I am using to correct and tweak my weight loss program.

I will also "Spotlight" others who have made it to their weight loss goals to show that the seemingly impossible is possible.

Even if it only helps a small group of people stay motivated to improve their quality of life I think it is worth it..

So I don't know what you were thinking when you produced this episode? I have no idea why you spent so much time on one little show note in the beginning of this podcast, but it spoke to me.

I'm just thankful  you did.

@John Bukenas Thanks so much John!  I'm so thankful that I recorded and published the show if it helped you in this way!  Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, you can have all the same information as another podcaster.  However, only you have your experience and perspective on that information.

Keep creating that great content!
