I Have Started A New Vlog!
Earlier this week, I made the decision to take my YouTube presence to the next level. I have been inspired by my good friend, Fr. Roderick Vonhogen and Chris Pirillo. In this episode of Podcast Answer Man, I share my motivations for wanting to create a YouTube vlog. I also share why I made the decision to purchase the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX50 Complete Real Estate Video Kit from HDHat.com (Affiliate Link) specifically for this purpose when I have other video cameras that I could have used. Feel free to check out my Vlog Playlist on YouTube and subscribe to my channel while you are there.

    Cliff,
Does the DSC-WX50 have a plug-in for an external microphone?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Teleios I don’t think so.  But I’ll know when it gets here.  I’m thinking it should be here Monday.

Cliff, you’re awesome. Great podcast. As to doing video with your iPhone, there is a wonderful course at ivideohero.com. He recommends airplane mode when you are recording. I love the iPhone as a recorder for teachers in class because the audio is ok, but we get good quality video and can put a song or recording over the iPhone audio. Every teacher has an iPhone. So, it was a no brainer for us.
At Back Creek Christian Academy, we are following you and learning from you. We are also playing the same arena.

  • ChasingDominico

    Cliff,
I enjoyed episode 310 and the YouTube for podcasters section.  I have adopted a presentation format for the “Chasing Dominico” podcast on YouTube
that was not discussed.  I wanted to share it with you and any of your
listeners that might be interested in using YouTube in an easy to digest
    way.
Here is a link to an episode posted on YouTube to see it in action as you read the description below. (disclaimer – the podcast has explicit content)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRV8vSKjMxY

    It
is a variation on the first method of putting the whole audio episode
into a video format with a still cover graphic.  The change is that the
graphic includes numbered chapters that allow the listener to jump
topics throughout the podcast.  This addresses the issue of listeners
being reticent to commit to long run-time videos by allowing them to
digest the podcast in short (under 5 mins or so each) bites.
    I can
explain the exact way to format the annotations and time jumps
associated with the chapters if you or any of your listeners are
    interested.
Thanks again for the great Podcast:)

ChasingDominico Thanks for sharing.  My friend, Tim Arther did that with his Tech Monks Podcast at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuFjWcQZbS8.  Great additional use of YouTube!

  • debrahilton

Hi Cliff, this episode was absolutely superb – exceptionally inspiring even for Podcast Answerman.  Many thanks to both you and Erik for sharing your ideas on how to use YouTube!
I did have a couple of questions, though.  Are you using LibSyn to host your videos, or are they on YouTube?  When you post a video on your site, do you embed it from YouTube video or what?

  • http://PodcastAnswerMan.com/ Cliff Ravenscraft

debrahilton No, I am not uploading my videos to Libsyn.  I upload them to my YouTube channel and then embed those videos into my website. ;)

  • Brian Wallace

Thanks guys.  Great show!  I’ve been thinking about adding video for  long time.  It just works really well with the topic I cover.  The problem has been that I always had these ridiculous huge plans about how to do it.  After listening to your show I played around with MS office, and I figure I can convert my already completed show notes into a very usable slide presentation in about 15 minutes.  I am restarting the show after a two month break this month.  I will definitely be adding this component.  Thanks again.

Brian Wallace Excellent!  So glad this episode inspired you Brian!

  • Ronda Del Boccio

Thanks for this show! I am going to make teaser videos for my Awakened Author Adventure audio podcast. Here is a real quick video (under 1 minute) introducing the show.
