319 Turning A Dream For A Podcast Network Into A Reality & Embedding Facebook Posts

by Cliff Ravenscraft on August 1, 2013

tvtalkimgIn this episode of Podcast Answer Man, I am delighted to share an interview with my great friend, Stuart Crane. I’ve talked about stuart in Podcast Answer Man on many occasions, though I may have only mentioned him by name a handful of times.

I first met Stuart back in July 2011. My first introduction to him was a letter I received with the largest Plus Membership contribution I had ever received for my podcast network. You can read that letter and see the amount of that contribution by clicking here. Since that time, Stuart and I have developed a great relationship. In fact, Stuart is one of my consulting/coaching clients, he’s one of my trusted business advisors, he’s now the sponsor of two of my podcasts and most importantly, he is a great friend.

TV_TalkThere are several reasons why I wanted to have Stuart as a guest on Podcast Answer Man. I wanted to start off by giving some background on who Stuart is, what business experience he has (quite impressive I might add), how he found me and why he made such a large contribution to the gspn.tv network. Next, I wanted to have Stuart share how he came up with the concept for http://TVTalk.com and what he has done to turn that idea into a reality.

Embedding Facebook Posts
In this week’s social media segment, Erik Fisher and I discuss the recent news that Facebook is rolling out the ability for us to “embed facebook posts” on our blogs. We pretty much discuss what we found in this article.

That was a great listen! Thanks for putting this one together.

I've been podcasting since 2005 and it's always great to get to know other people who are also passionate about it.  I'm very honored to be a member of the TV Talk family.

@KevinBachelder Thank you so much Kevin.  So thrilled that you enjoyed this episode!  So cool to have another podcasting pioneer in the community!

I really appreciated this podcast with Stuart. You should consider doing more interviews with podcasters. How about doing an interview with one on your podcast students every month or just start another podcast where you chat with one of your previous A to Z students.

I like listening to you talk, but one of your strengths is talking with others.

@MikeShell The interview format is not one of my favorite formats.  I know that they are super popular and seem to be all the rage today.  I do enjoy doing interviews.  However, only when I feel that there is a conversation that I desperately want my audience to hear.

Out of 300+ episodes of Podcast Answer Man, if I had to guess, there are at least 30 to 40 interviews in there.  Perhaps more.

Now, four of the past five episodes included interviews.  I will certainly have many more in the future.  However, I don't think I would ever want to commit to a certain number of them.  When I approach the preparation for Podcast Answer Man, I simply ask myself... "What do I want to share with the community this week."  I like keeping it a bit more organic in this way.

Hope you understand.

Thanks for an inspiring interview with Stuart Crane. It was a shot in the arm of hope and positivity for people who are planting the seeds of their own business, whatever kind, but particularly podcasts/audio. The "you never know who is listening" is an important reminder and whether its 100 people or 10, it doesn't matter. I also, as a man of faith, agree that there is a principle of "you reap what you sow" with the way that Stuart supported your work. It was insightful to say this is not an investment, but based on what you have already done. Those 500+ episodes of Pursuing A Balanced Life Podcast were seeds, and it takes 8 years to become and overnight success! Thanks for motivation and encouragement this gave to my efforts to build my audio projects. I have just started to record and publish a  "blogcast" taking the written blog and turning it into a audio blog, and it's great fun. It's early days, but looking to launch as a podcast in it's own way later this year. Thanks for all the content, advice and support.

@PeteBillingham Pete, thank you for sharing how inspirational this episode was for you.  I'm a firm believer in the "you never know who's listening" principle.  I love how you pulled out the "you reap what you sow" analogy in this interview.  You are so right.   The cool thing is that those 500+ episodes (seeds) of Pursuing A Balanced Life produced a harvest well beyond the amazing gift that Stuart sent my way.

Keep sowing my friend.  I wish you great success in your upcoming venture into creating a podcast with unique content that will take full advantage of the medium. ;)

Fantastic interview with Stuart Crane. I am super excited about TVTALK and catching their extended shows in the fall. I've been listening to the Dexter and True Blood episodes so far. They are great! Thank you, Cliff, for bringing the product, the man and the story to my attention. The potential for expanding and promoting podcasting as a whole through the TVTALK App (and their site) is extraordinary. Exciting times. Bravo!
