348 The Episode I Almost Deleted

Delete Key

It’s been a long time since I recorded an episode of Podcast Answer Man that I actually deleted. I have had a few episodes where I went back and re-recorded a section or two. There have even been a few episodes that I had to do some heavy editing on to turn them into something that I could be proud to publish.

However, even with the a re-recorded intro and a little bit of editing, this episode almost didn’t get published. I admit that I went into this episode with very little preparation, outside of a test run of the Fuze Box video conferencing service. I plan to return next week with a bit more preparation and some more “Can’t Live Without Content.”

Upcoming Event Schedule
220calOne of my favorite things about traveling to, and speaking at conferences, is meeting members of my community. I always make it a point to host a community meetup wherever I travel.

Below is a list of events that you might be interested in. If you can make it to any of these events, I’d love to have the opportunity to meet you. If you are not able to attend the event, but are in that area, I’d still love for you to come to the personal community meetup that I will host in that town.

I Appreciate Your iTunes Reviews!
If you have ever read my blog post about how iTunes podcast ratings work, then you know just how valuable leaving a 5 star rating and/or a written review can be to a content producer.

I am so incredibly thankful to those who have recently gone into my listing in iTunes to provide a five star rating and a written review of Podcast Answer Man.

Thanks for sharing the Fuze Meeting review, Cliff! One of the partner agencies I do contract work for uses this program, and your in-depth coverage has convinced me that I should try it out for my own remote podcast interviews. What I'd really like to see is the ability to do separate track audio recording, like I can already do in Skype's eCamm recorder.

Time for me to give you a much-deserved 5-star rating on iTunes! In the meantime, I'm saving up for your next Podcast training course after the April one. You've been a great help to me and I'm glad that my colleague Gordon Firemark referred me to you.

Love it. Tankless water heater, running your own cables (former IT, telco guy myself), custom fireplace, lighting... building your "home". I am happy for you!

@VernonEL I'm glad you enjoyed that one Vernon. I wasn't sure about it myself. ;)

I use Fuze for my community and find that it works much better than GoToMeeting. On my last mastermind call, using GoToMeeting, video freezes and audio cuts out and it's so frustrating.

With Fuze, video degrades separately from audio so I find that the audio never cuts out.

One of the big issues I have (and my members have) is with the way audio is joined. I had to create a short video to show people (https://vimeo.com/medicalschoolhq/review/88095683/abb68e2417) how to setup their audio. After you click "Join" users think they are connected - it's weird to have to connect again with the audio.

@Grant Crowell  Great to hear from you you again.  I think I recall having conversations with you back in 2008, when I had first starting doing this full-time.   You were speaking at a bunch of conferences in California at the time.

I really appreciate the rating on iTunes and look forward to working with you during an upcoming session of Podcasting A to Z.

Thanks for listening!

@PaulColaianni  Thank you for the feedback Paul.  I had been afraid that this episode "jumped the shark" a bit.  So glad you enjoyed it.  Thank you for celebrating with me.

@GSPN I was glad to hear you'd be speaking at the Podcast Movement. I'm REALLY looking for a way to justify the trip and conference.

@GSPN I've been listening for nearly two years now, and 348 was the most "unique" ep. Still keep me listening all the way though, though!

@Ryan Gray, MD  Thanks for sharing your Fuze experience.  I have been using GoToMeeting/Webinar for about five years and have rarely had issues with freezing.   But it is nice to see that there are so many options available for web conferencing these days.   I love the connected world we live in.

@VernonEL I look forward to meeting you there Vernon!
