twitterTwitter Photos & Tag Spam
In this week’s social media segment, Erik Fisher joins me to discuss Twitter’s new ability to upload four pictures to a single tweet using their mobile application. We also talk about the ability to tag people in the photos you upload form the mobile Twitter app. This led us into a discussion about tag spam among other things.

Skype TX
Many of you have asked me to give my opinion on the announcement of Skype TX. My opinion on this is that it is too early to have an opinion on this. When they finally release pricing and hardware specs, we’ll have more to go on.

I'm very interested in using Patreon. I hope you interview the CEO and/or further share your thoughts on it!

Cliff, we conducted our first two interviews via Skype yesterday. The audio coming in from the first interview was horrible. The second one was much better.

I am using the noise gate on the MDX4600 to cut down on background static noise, however, I can hear this noise when this hum like noise when the person talks and silence when they are not talking. Is Skype really the way to go or would I be better off plugging my cell phone in to the mixer and doing my interviews by phone? This background noise coming from Skype is annoying.  I have a brand new iMac by the way.  Our voices on our end sound amazing. Skype is the problem.

How do you cut down on that annoying hum?

Thanks in advance.

John

Actually, something like Level Up Studios doesn't quite have the (potential) stigma of the longer phrase, yet gets the point across. I'm not sure it rolls easily off the tongue...but it might also be worthy of consideration.

I would be okay with you naming it "The Chris Cowan Creative Coliseum!!" But I may be biased...

My two cents' worth:

That whole "next level" thing is being used everywhere now and will eventually get old and tired (it's already well past that point for me). It's one thing to have it in your branding, which you can refresh at any time to a chorus of "hey...we love the new sound!" and nobody thinks twice about it. It's an entirely different thing to name your anchor facility with a slogan like that. That's why I think something like Ravensworld Studios works better...it will never grow old as long as you're associated with it.

On the other hand, you could be like the football stadiums and change your name every few years...each time you sell the naming rights for tens of millions of dollars. Assuming you have people wanting to buy the naming rights for tens of millions of dollars. ;)

Just something to think about...

How about... Elevation Studios - "Elevate the things you do to the next level"

Hey, Cliff, I think there is only one choice for your studio name(not that I'm partial or anything). But based on your tag line, "Take everything you do to the next level," you should name your studio:

The Next Level

Because it's in the basement of your home, you could call it…. "Cliff's bottom"

…no?

@beardonabike I plan to see do some testing with it before interviewing the CEO.  I may get to it later this month.

@Chuck Brown  Thanks for your feedback Chuck.  Tell you what... I'll give you naming rights for for the next two years for a mere 2 million in cash.  :)

@Chuck Brown @Cliff Ravenscraft  I'm not tired of "next level" as Cliff's slogan, but I do agree it doesn't really feel right as the name of his studio. Then again, I don't really see taking things to the next level as a slogan. It's really just a concise way of explaining "this is what podcasting does."

Cliff, I think your brand is more closely tied to "GSPN" or "Podcast Answer Man" than to "Taking things to the next level." Perhaps something that reflects those brands better. GSPN HQ or AnswerMan Studio, etc...

@Cliff Ravenscraft @superbrewers  It's great because your studio is in the lower level of your house, so you can try to make it a goal to move your studio UP "to the next level" and eventually take over the whole house!
