Social Media Marketing World

Social Media Marketing World The Power of Conferences
In this week’s episode, I have a conversation with my great friend, Mike Stelzner. Michael is the founder of Social Media Examiner, author of the books Launch and Writing White Papers and the man behind the single greatest social media conference, Social Media Marketing World. He is also host of the Social Media Marketing podcast, founder of the Social Media Marketing Society and host of the weekly Morning Social Media Marketing TALK show.

In our conversation, Michael and I talk about how much value we have both received, personally and professional as a result of the relationships that we have built with like minded individuals that we met at conferences. Have a listen to the episode to learn how Michael was inspired to create Social Media Marketing World, what makes it stand out from other events and why I believe you should register today.

    Cliff,

Once again thanks for the awesome content. Can you help me on selling the benefits of attending a conference to my boss? I know this is kind of off topic but I am in a niche, the building automation space and I believe like you that I could make some great connections and learn quite a bit at conferences. However my boss doesn’t think so.

My second question, and I know you’ve discussed this in past episodes, how do you balance the desire to attend the learning sessions with the desire to network?

Thanks so much cliff. By the way, I’m up to $1,400 on my A to Z fund 🙂

    Hey Phil,

I’m curious what type of building automation you deal with. Are you mainly residential or commercial?

I’m really interested in residential automation and how it can increase comfort, convenience, and efficiency in homes.

    Thanks.

  • Phil

    Ben,

I deal with all kinds of BAS, back we I was in Seattle we even did the controls for Bill Gates house. Feel free to hit me up on LinkedIn or at my blog buildingautomationmonthly.com.

  • Nice!

  • Phil, I see that Michael has responded with a link to a letter template that one can share with their boss.

As for me, personally, I personally spend almost all my time networking at conferences and very little time sitting in on sessions. I go with the intention to build new and grow existing relationships. That is my primary focus at these sort of events.

If I want to learn something, a good conference will make all the sessions available afterward.

I’m excited to hear that you’re getting so close with the savings for A to Z.. Look forward to working with you soon!!!!
