Andy, if you downloaded the iTunes version in the podcast feed and it skips, it could be a limitation of the graphics card in your computer.

I would suggest coming to the website and doing a search for that particular episode and you should be able to view a much lighter version of the video embedded with flash on the website.

Alright, so I downloaded a podcast of a free show(Spartacus) from the Itunes shop yesterday. It finished downloading alright and when I went to watch it today the video skips about 5-10 seconds or so and then goes on, so I was just wondering how to fix this problem or watch it so it doesnt skip every 5 minutes or so. Thanks.

When I upload my podcasts to my iPhone, the audio only podcastsm play back at a really increased rate. My video casts play just fine but the audio ones sound like the chipmunks on espresso. I don’t know if anyone has experieced this as well, but it is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance for your advice

The problem with downloading podcasts only happens when you are subscribed manually to the rss feed or if you used a “one click subscribe” option. If you wen to the iTunes Music store and clicked the “Subscribe” button there, the “Get More Episodes” will work, but it will only show what iTunes Store found the last time “IT” check the rss feed. May be out of date by even a few hours.

Yes, 3G and Edge are limited to 10 megs…

As for subscribing to a podcast…. You still need iTunes for that. However, you can open the iTunes App, search for your podcast, and then click to download an episode…. But, technically, you are not subscribed to it.

Hmm not having the problem that you mentioned. When I click “get more episodes” on my iPhone it takes me directly to the episodes.

Also, I’ve noticed that if the podcast you’re downloading is larger than a certain amount of memory, you can’t do it over 3G or a cellular network and must connect to WiFi.

I didn’t realize this podcast DL directly to iPhone was a new thing as I just discovered podcasts for myself recently..so I think I know the answer BUT originally I was going to ask if there is a way to subscribe to podcasts directly from the iPhone, so that I don’t have to DL the Wall Street bit manually every morning and I could read it on the subway. Would be nice.

DJ, Sounds like you might have “selected podcast” checked in your syncing options. So when your iPhone is plugged in, Make sure you are looking at the Device Description of your iPhone and click on the Podcasts Tab and make sure it is “checked.”

FRUSTRATED! I recently located and subscribed to a really good podcast, but it won’t sync to my iphone. I checked the settings, I even tried converting to ipod/iphone in the Advanced menu, but to no avail. All my other podcasts sync just fine. Can you help? Podcast can be found under Stephen K. Hayes.

Regarding the issue that the podcast that you download directly does not sync back to the computer…. I had similar problems until I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (8.0.2.20). Now it DOES sync back fine… hope this works for other people too.

Hi Cliff. Excellent article. I love how you don’t waste any time fully testing out the new products, like iPhone 2.2. I just woke up in California, and saw everyone on Twitter, and in the gspn.tv forums talking about iPhone 2.2. I’m not even done downloading/installing iPhone 2.2 yet, and now (because of your article) I now can be more cautious when using the new enhancements, and save myself from asking (on Twitter) “What’s up with this doing this and that?”.

I understand your frustration, and am glad you have your gspn.tv iPhone App available to fill in the gaps.

I guess you won’t be as giddy on the next Help iGot a Mac, as I thought you would be, when I posted in your iPhone 2.2 thread at the gspn.tv forums.
