How To Subscribe To A Podcast In iTunes

by Cliff Ravenscraft on September 22, 2010

Did you know that there are a lot of people who will listen to your podcast on a regular basis only from your website? More times than you might think, folks are finding your audio content as the result of a Google search and have no idea what a podcast is. This is why I believe it’s extremely important to have audio players right inside of your show notes that make it easy for a new visitor to your site to see that there is audio content that they could listen to.

I recently mentioned that it may be a good idea for you educate your audience on how they could subscribe to podcasts and have them automatically delivered to their computers. My favorite example of a client who took my suggestion to heart is Dr. Thomas Lamar who created an amazing “What Is A Podcast?” page on his website.

Well, today, I decided to do my own part for my own audience and I created the following tutorial on how to subscribe to a podcast using iTunes. You could create a video similar to this one or feel free to embed this video on your own site, if you desire. You can get the embed code by clicking here and clicking the EMBED Button just above the comments section.

Here’s the video:

  • Dr. Lamar, I’ve been wanting to do this forever and I’m so glad that I finally was able to do it as well. Thanks for the comment!

  • Thanks Cliff. I just reinstalled itunes this past week after a hard drive meltdown – and I had forgotten how to make it download the podcasts every hour. This was extremely helpful in jogging the ‘ol memory!

  • Sweet, thanks for the feedback Daniel! Glad it helped a pro at downloading podcasts, like yourself, with that little insight.

  • Fantastic tutorial. As a long time podcaster it’s second nature to use iTunes but we should always remember what it’s like to do it for the first time. Wondering though if it isn’t a good idea to blur out your phone number and serial number on the Mac iTunes shots?
