How Podcasting Works – A Brief Overview of How To Podcast

by Cliff Ravenscraft on May 4, 2011

I am delighted to finally have the opportunity to produce the following video to give a simplified overview of how podcasting works. This video is intentionally over-simplified for the purpose of giving just the “big picture” view of what a podcast is and how it works.

I’ve been helping podcasters set up and configure their podcasts for many years now and there certainly are a great deal of additional steps when first configuring your podcast. However, I have found that my client’s have an easier time going through each of the individual steps when they have an understanding of how each of these steps fit into the big picture. Consider it like putting a puzzle together.

With that said, the following video is the puzzle box cover with the picture to help you get started and to use as a reference point during your journey into podcasting.

Hi Cliff,

I'm just starting to learn this stuff and love your tutorials, thanks for putting these together!

One quick question - when tagging mp3 files, do you need to tag each file individually or is there any way you can apply tags to the entire podcast series (probably the most ideal solution would be to have some generic tags populated for the series and some specific tags e.g. the topic of a particular episode updated for every file),

thanks,

Alan

@AlanChatfield Thanks for leaving a comment on site! You do have to tag each file individually. I recommend watching video #2 at http://LearnHowToPodcast.com to see how I tag my files.

Now technically speaking, you could use some software to tag multiple files at once. However, this is still a manual process.
