446 – My Biggest Takeaways From SMMW16

by Cliff Ravenscraft on April 22, 2016

sn446

In this episode, I allow myself to do use the “live to drive” format to share my thoughts following my experience at Social Media Marketing World 2016.

Update: I totally neglected to share two major takeaways from this event. Much like the others, these takeaways are about taking relationships to the next level. I had the opportunity to walk with Tyler Anderson and Chris Brogan from the speaker party to the opening night networking party held on Midway Aircraft Carrier.

During this 20+ minute walk, we had the type of conversation that takes relationships to a whole new level. I’m deeply honored to have gone much deeper in my friendship with both Tyler and Chris. Guys, I’m so sorry that I neglected to mention just how much of a valuable takeaway our time was together in this episode. I assure you that, looking back, it was at the top of the list.

In this week’s episode, I share the recording of the talk that I gave at Podcast Movement 2015. In this talk, I share why it is so important to focus on building a relationship with those who are already listening to your podcast and then I give you ten tips on how to build those relationships.

1. Engage with their content.
2. Ask many questions.

4. Prioritize your mailing list.
5. Create online community environments.
6. Reach out and touch someone (call them).
7. Set yourself reminders.

377 Teaching Others About Podcasts

by Cliff Ravenscraft on October 9, 2014

whatisapodcast-imageWhat Is A Podcast? (00:01:34)
I enjoy introducing the world of podcasts to someone who has never heard of podcasting before. Not for the purpose convincing them to start a podcast, but actually start listening to podcasts. I am a firm believer that podcasts have a power to change people’s lives for the better like no other platform out there.

In this episode, I share an example of the language I use when describing what a podcast is to someone for the very first time. It just so happens that I was able to record such a conversation with someone while I happened to be out in the field recording an episode of my Pursuing A Balanced Life podcast. I also issue a challenge to all podcasters to make it a goal to introduce at least one person, each week, to the world of podcasting. This would be a true “podcast movement.”

Other Topics Covered In This Episode:
– More thoughts on the Slippery Slope (00:23:20)
– A possible way to save money on your mobile data plan (00:45:32)
– How Podcasting A to Z came into existence (00:50:25)
