Social Media Marketing World

Social Media Marketing World The Power of Conferences
In this week's episode, I have a conversation with my great friend, Mike Stelzner. Michael is the founder of Social Media Examiner, author of the books Launch and Writing White Papers and the man behind the single greatest social media conference, Social Media Marketing World. He is also host of the Social Media Marketing podcast, founder of the Social Media Marketing Society and host of the weekly Morning Social Media Marketing TALK show.

In our conversation, Michael and I talk about how much value we have both received, personally and professional as a result of the relationships that we have built with like minded individuals that we met at conferences. Have a listen to the episode to learn how Michael was inspired to create Social Media Marketing World, what makes it stand out from other events and why I believe you should register today.

458 – I Can Control My Emotional State

sn458

In this week's episode, I share one of the most powerful things that I learned at Tony Robbins' Unleash The Power Within event. I learned that I can be in complete control of my emotional state and that I can intentionally choose to change my emotional state, in an instant, any time I choose to do so.

I share how learning this principle has radically improved my life as a husband and a father and how it affected the way that I approached my Podcast Movement 2016 experience in Chicago last week.

455 – Identity – The Importance of Knowing Who You Are

sn455

In last week's episode, I talked about how excited I was to be heading off, this week, for the Tony Robbins event called Unleashing The Power Within. I also shared how excited I was about learning from one of his information products that I had purchased, called Creating Lasting Change.

After hearing last week's episode, a concerned listener wrote to me saying that he was alarmed and that the first part of that episode sounded so unlike me that it made his skin crawl. The concerned listener then cautioned me, saying that Tony teaches NLP, which has been debunked many times, and that I'd do well to save my hard-earned cash for things that have true value, not on pseudo science.

Knowing the person that sent me this feedback, I'm convinced of the kind and caring heart in which this advice was given. The feelings expressed in this feedback are fully aligned with the mindset I once had on this issue, years ago, when a few folks had recommended that I read the book “Think And Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.

The main focus of this episode is how my thinking has changed, over the years, as it relates to my comfort level in learning things from those who may also teach some things that I very much disagree with. I'm so excited to have had my great friend, Ray Edwards, join me in a conversation about this topic.

As for the title of this week's episode? That comes from one of Tony Robbin's many teachings that I do believe in strongly. A teaching that has the has the power to profoundly change the lives of those who embrace it.

I sincerely hope that you'll enjoy this episode.

446 – My Biggest Takeaways From SMMW16

sn446

In this episode, I allow myself to do use the “live to drive” format to share my thoughts following my experience at Social Media Marketing World 2016.

Update: I totally neglected to share two major takeaways from this event. Much like the others, these takeaways are about taking relationships to the next level. I had the opportunity to walk with Tyler Anderson and Chris Brogan from the speaker party to the opening night networking party held on Midway Aircraft Carrier.

During this 20+ minute walk, we had the type of conversation that takes relationships to a whole new level. I'm deeply honored to have gone much deeper in my friendship with both Tyler and Chris. Guys, I'm so sorry that I neglected to mention just how much of a valuable takeaway our time was together in this episode. I assure you that, looking back, it was at the top of the list.
