230 Podcast Answer Man – Why Do I Do What I Do?

by Cliff Ravenscraft on October 17, 2011

Have You Asked Yourself Why?
In has been six years since I was first introduced to the world of audio podcasting. You only need to go through the information on my about page to learn just how much of a profound impact podcasting has had on my life. Last week, I was interviewed by John Martin of Small Business Round Table, for an upcoming podcast episode. In the interview, he asked me one of the most powerful questions that I have been asked in an interview. He asked “Why do you do what you do?”

While I was able to provide an answer to that question on the spot, I speent this entire weekend pondering that question on each of the things that I have committed myself to. In this episode, I share some top of mind thoughts when it comes to why I create all the podcast content that I create. I also spend some time sharing why I do one on one consulting/coaching and group training in my Podcasting A to Z course.

At the very core, I do not do what I do for the money. There have been a few times when I’ve become distracted by the potential for making more money. I’m certainly not opposed to finding ways to increase my income further by what I do. However, deep down, I’m often reminded that I need to step back and get refocused on my reason for doing what I do.

Over the past six years, I’ve received hundreds upon hundreds of phone calls, emails, and letters from people all over the world who have shared how something that I’ve shared in a podcast episode has had a positive impact on their lives. As you will find out in this episode, audio podcasting is continuing to have a massive positive impact in my own life. It is my hope and desire that I will continue to have the honor of producing such valuable content and it is equally my desire to help other people discover the joy of producing similar content.

I hope you enjoy this special episode of Podcast Answer Man.

Am so glad to find the “old” Cliff is back. Lately due to the varying releases of PAM, I was becoming concerned you were losing interested in PAM

Personally, I believe this is one of your best episodes.  I can hear the passion, I can hear how deep you care and it came across clearly.

As you know, you helped get me started a year ago.  I still find it amazing that I am approaching my 52nd Episode (Growing Your Grub) on Saturday.

I never would have made it this far without your assistance.

    Thank YouSteve Howard

  • LOL – I Know Right? Sometimes I crack myself up. 🙂

  • Never fear my friend, I’m not losing interest in Podcast Answer Man. It’s just that sometimes I get so many things on my plate that I have trouble finding a place and time for everything.

I’m learning to say NO to a lot of things these days. However, while I can’t promise that the PAM schedule will never get out of whack again, I can assure you that I don’t ever see a day when I will lose interest in publishing this particular podcast.

Thanks for communicating how valuable this show is to you Steve! It means a lot to me.

  • I don’t think Dr. Monte has his old episodes online any longer. Though, his site can be found at http://www.fitnessrocks.org.

Here’s a link to an interview that I did with Dr. Monte though: http://balancedlivingweekly.com/an-interview-with-dr-monte

Hey Cliff.  Been listening to you for around 3 years now.  You along with Pat Flynn, Timothy Ferriss, Dan Miller, Stephen Covey, and others inspired me to learn how to make a living pursuing my passion.  After a long hiatus of listening to the many podcasts I’m a fan of, I decided today to go back and see what all I’ve missed.  It turns out I’ve missed a lot!
Of all the podcasts I downloaded, I decided to comment on this one because after a year of being self-employed as a Guitar Success Coach and managing my website at http://www.SecretsofTexasBluesGuitar.com I’ve begun to be in a slump and need an extra boost of motivation.  I have many ideas on my mind about creating new products for the coming year and I’m beginning to see some interest from others concerning partnering with me to sell my current product “Texas Blues Guitar by Eric Beaty.”  The title of this podcast sounds like just what I need to get me digging in my heels and moving forward again.
I look forward to listening to it and the others I’ve downloaded.  Now I’m over to http://www.gspn.tv to see everything else I’ve missed!  Thanks so much for the inspiration, passion, motivation, courage, and above all heart that you inject into all you do, Cliff.  God bless abundantly and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Prosperous, BLESSED BEYOND BELIEF New Year!

  • @EricBeaty Eric, I am sooooo sorry that i am just now seeing this.  Someone had tagged this as spam and I only just went into that folder to clear it out.  This is OBVIOUSLY not spam.
Anyway, I am QUITE HONORED that out of all the podcasts you listen to, you took the time to comment on this episode.  I am so thrilled to know that this episode inspired you.  Thank you for taking the time to share.
BTW, based upon your liking this episode, I encourage you to try out http://PursuingABalancedLife.com
I hope you have an amazing week! Sincerely, Cliff

  • @Cliff [email protected], Cliff.  No problem, I know how busy it can be at times.  Been listening to all the PAM, PABL, and http://www.VirtualAssistantPodcast.com I can get from you.
By the way, I am learning soooo much from the Virtual Assistant Podcast.  It’s really encouraging to know it doesn’t have to be the nightmare that I always thought it would be.  I’m on episode 9 and can’t wait to see how the journey plays out in the rest of the episodes!

  • @EricBeaty So glad you are enjoying all that content. 😉

  • “Old content” still encouraging people.

  • padredavid  That is awesome.  Thank you for letting me know.  This is one that I should go back to listen to again. 🙂
