For skype, this is what you would do....

You would use a cable with 1/8" stereo male plug on one end which would go into the headphones/speaker jack of the skype computer.

The other end of that cable would be a 1/4" mono male plug that would go into the "input" on one of the channels of the Compressor/Limiter/Gate.

Then you would simply us a Balanced 1/4" patch cable to go from the output of that channel from that Compressor/Limiter/Gate to ANY balanced 1/4" input on your mixer. All your sliders on your mixer would have a 1/4" balanced Input. So, in the case of the Skype, you would not be using the "insert cable."

Sorry for the confusion.

The benefit of this is that if you have someone on Skype that has a lot of background noise when they are not talking but you are, the gate will cut all audio except for when they are talking.

That's what I kinda figured. I just don't get how this will benefit my
skype users unless I have to plug them into lines 2,3 or 4. Line 9-12
don't have insert jacks on my mixer.

You should use an insert cable for each channel you want to go through the processing gear. Though it is possible doing the whole board using the Aux Sends and Aux Returns. I'm a fan of individual control.

I recently learned about the iTunes redirect statement but thankfully didn't need it cause I use Feedburner. Great tip for anyone starting with a RSS feed. Use Feedburner!

I will have to look into using Libsyn to host my podcasts. It would save me a lot of file transfers when switching domains as I am currently doing since they could have stayed right where they are at. Not that this is something you do often.

I have a Behringer 1222fx. Any tips on how to cable that to the Behringer compressor? I thought you would have to use an insert cable for each line on the mixer over to each line on the compressor. But you seemed to mention a way to route the whole mixer to the compressor. That sounds easier, though I would think that doing it this way would not let you independently control settings for each mic differently. This is admittedly confusing.
