489 – Support Ticket Systems And WordPress Themes

by Cliff Ravenscraft on February 17, 2017

In this week’s episode, I’m joined, once again, by my great friend, Mark Mason. Mark joined me to have a discussion about the various options that we had considered for implementing a email support ticket system into our online businesses and which one we both ended up using. We also talk about WordPress themes and a few other items that we’ve been working on to take our businesses to the next level.

Appendipity makes Genesis Framework themes for Podcasting.
ManageWP will allow you to update multiple WordPress sites from one place.

  • I had not heard of ManageWP before. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check it out.

  • Thanks Cliff for the great shout out and kind words you had for Marketing Access Pass. My wife and I had a great time on the cruise and glad we got to hang out with you and Stephanie in Costa Maya. Looking forward to connecting again soon!

  • Stephanie and I had a great time connecting with you guys last week. I’ll be in touch soon. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Hi Cliff, I may have emailed you a couple of suggestions when you’ve talked about this in the past, but another theme you should take a look at, is X Theme by Themeco. I was also looking into Genesis framework a couple years back when I ran across X Theme when it was just getting started. They have blown me away on about every front, and I’ve standardized on this theme for my sites and clients’ sites.

As for hosting, I don’t know what your friend offers, but if you can afford it, I recommend managed WordPress hosting. Lots of people have VSP and dedicated servers (I have access to them myself), but most people don’t have the several, high-end technical staff necessary to keep a WordPress site and infrastructure in top shape and performance (I don’t, and I’m heading towards 30 years in IT). I host my sites, and my clients’ sites on WP Engine, and can vouch for their service and expertise. I’ve also heard great things about Pagely.

You’ll pay quite a bit more, especially if you have a ton of traffic. But, the difference is night and day. It’s worth it, IMO, if you want to take that stuff off your plate and focus on content and extending site capabilities when you get into the tech (instead of fixing stuff).

  • Thanks for the additional feedback. I’ve not heard of X Theme before. I’m pretty sure I’m going to move toward having my site designed, hosted and managed for me. ๐Ÿ˜‰
