YouTube Legacy Channel Recovery

PLEASE HELP ME RECOVER THE ORIGINAL PODCAST ANSWER MAN YOUTUBE CHANNEL.

My original Podcast Answer Man YouTube channel is still live. I can verify my connection to the brand.

The documented self-service recovery path ends at a Google+ credential I no longer have. I am trying to reach the right person inside YouTube who can help restore my access.

Here is the situation at a glance.

The original @podcastanswerman YouTube channel still exists, but it does not appear in my YouTube channel switcher or YouTube Studio.

  • Google shows me as Primary Owner of a Brand Account named Podcast Answer Man.
  • The channel was created through a Google+ / Brand Account period.
  • I found YouTube's legacy gaia_link claim process.
  • That process requires the original legacy YouTube username and password.
The practical blocker: I no longer have that old password. YouTube's current help documentation says there is no password recovery option for these legacy passwords.

The help I'm looking for

I do not need a standard account-recovery link.

I am trying to find the YouTube employee or internal escalation path that handles legacy channels from the Google+ / Brand Account era.

I am happy to go through a proper security or ownership-verification process. I simply need a path that does not depend on remembering a nearly two-decade-old Google+ password.

What I've already tried.

This is not a first-pass support request. I have spent significant time tracing the account history and testing the recovery paths available to me.

OCTOBER 27, 2025

Diagnosed the Brand Account / legacy migration problem.

  • Confirmed that the original Podcast Answer Man channel still existed publicly.
  • Confirmed a Google Brand Account named Podcast Answer Man under my account.
  • Explored Brand Accounts, YouTube's channel switcher, YouTube Studio, channel creation, and advanced account settings.
  • Reached the channel-move workflow but stopped before risking my active @CliffRavenscraft channel.
  • The legacy Google+ / Brand Account history made it clear this was not a normal modern account-access problem.

JULY 1, 2026

Worked the legacy recovery path as far as I could.

  • Found YouTube's legacy claim page at youtube.com/gaia_link.
  • Confirmed the legacy username is podcastanswerman.
  • Reached the point where the process requires the original pre-Google YouTube password.
  • Searched historical email and password-manager records.
  • Tested multiple plausible historical passwords. None worked.
  • Posted a detailed YouTube Community request asking whether ownership evidence could be used as alternate verification.

WHERE THINGS STAND

The self-service path appears exhausted.

The channel is still public. The Podcast Answer Man Brand Account relationship is visible. I can provide extensive ownership evidence. What I do not have is the obsolete credential required by the legacy claim flow.

Google currently lists me as Primary Owner of the Brand Account named Podcast Answer Man.

I can provide whatever additional proof YouTube requires, including:

  • Brand Account ownership screenshots and account details
  • Identity verification
  • Podcast and brand history going back to 2006
  • Domain and business ownership records
  • Historical email records and other account evidence
